Breaking News

This is all I get to see when I watch tens of News channel on the TV.

Breaking news is supposed to be breaking news. But I guess all my learned friends managing News channels and shows have forgot the definition of Breaking News.

Wikipedia definition of breaking news is: “Breaking news is a current event that broadcasters feel warrants the interruption of scheduled programming in order to report its details. Its use is often loosely assigned to the most significant story of the moment or a story that is being covered live”

Now I guess “Breaking News” in itself is a scheduled program.

What I feel is the usage of term “Breaking news” should be restricted to extremely urgent news.

India TV is one of the most annoying news channel with freaky breaking news like “Swarg Ka rasta”, “Kalyug ka Ant”,  “Billi Ka rescue Operation”, “Amitabh key punarjanam ka rahasya”,” Ek Chanta Paanch Paapi” to name a few.

If you want to see some screen shots of the India TV breaking news visit http://stupidindiatv.blogspot.com/ an extremely interesting blog.

Aaj tak, Live India, Zee News, Star News are not better in any ways, a few English news channels are just an iota better than their Hindi counterparts.

You will not hear single good news on any of this, the debates are always on controversial topics, there is not one channel showing any positive developments.

Even the newspapers are full of murders, rape and crimes.

I am not against reporting such incidents, this are must too, but there could a better way of doing it.

I think good things do not sell, no one will be willing to watch them if there is no masala or controversy involved in it.

Only scandals sell.
